How To Delete "Notorious" Files in Windows

Ever wanted to delete some files from your HDD but somehow you couldn’t? I tried researching on the same and all I could get were fancy commands that didn’t get me anywhere. I even managed to take ownership of the files but they still could not be deleted. The good news is that I found a way around this problem. It’s not that difficult and better still, you don’t have to learn any fancy windows commands, you don’t have to learn how to take ownership of files or anything.

In order to do this, all you need is the disk cleaner from Microsoft. Don’t worry about having to download it, it’s found in all windows installations. To access the service, just search for disk cleaner and open it but first, follow the following instructions:

1. Create a folder called Windows.old

2. Move files that you would like to delete permanently into this folder

3. Open the disk cleaner. Here is a simple way to do this in windows 8. Its very similar in windows 7 and Vista

Click Ok and choose the drive where the files are on

Choose the option clean up system files as shown in the image below

Next, just choose the same drive where the files to be deleted that have been moved to the Windows.Old folder are located.

This time, the system will show you all the files that are to be deleted including the ones that had been moved in the Windows.Old folder

Next, just click on delete files and the disk Clean up service will do its job

Just like that and you will be done. So, the next time you would like to get rid of those annoying files, just follow the above steps and you will be Ok.

I will be writing such articles on a weekly basis to cover simple tricks around your windows machine. Later on, I will be sharing some of the tricks I have learned o how to tweak your android smartphone to its best.
